Black & Human: Unapologetically

I am a human. I am black.

Do I need to state this?

Nothing can change that fact. It is what it will be forever and I’m proud of that fact.

Therefore, why should I remind anyone that my life matters? Why can’t I find meaning from my own existence? Why should I remind institutions about a fact I can’t alter?

If institutions and certain individuals don’t realise my fact, is there a better way to show them?

There’s something wrong when I try to tell you that my life matters. Shouldn’t that be known by any human?

There is something missing somewhere and it’s worth addressing. We should be learning how to be humans again. We’ve forgotten how to be humans. We’ve forgotten that showing love and empathy is the only panacea to our differences.
